A Teacher's Prayer by James J Metcalf asks that the children in the care of the teacher will not simply learn academic lessons, but that the teacher may help them learn life lessons.
"Not just the lesson in a book,
Or how the rivers flow,
But to choose the proper path,
Wherever they may go."
